# Writing rubrics and anchors

## Turn what “good” looks like into a standard that can be applied consistently and reviewed afterwards. Rubrics make the qualities you want to measure explicit, while anchors define the evidence required for each level.

**Writing anchors**

A criterion defines **what** you want to measure. Its anchors define what evidence at each level looks like.

Levels begin at 0 and run to the top level selected for the rubric.

Write anchors so that the evidence required at each level is clear enough to distinguish one level from another. ImpactHire uses these anchors when matching candidate evidence to a level.

The resulting evaluation keeps the matched level, supporting candidate evidence, and reason together.

**AI-drafted rubrics**

ImpactHire can propose rubrics for you to review.

For an application rubric, the proposal can use the job title, description, seniority, and skills.

For a scored question, AI can propose criteria and the levels and anchors used to assess them.

An AI proposal does not become the scoring standard simply because it was generated. You can edit or discard it before saving.

Changes to a rubric apply to future answers. Existing answers keep the rubric that applied when they were answered.

**Weighting criteria**

Weights determine how much each criterion contributes to the answer score.

Use a higher weight when a criterion should contribute a larger share of the result and a lower weight when it should contribute less.

ImpactHire applies the weights after matching the candidate evidence to the relevant anchor level.
