The candidate board
The candidate board shows the workflow for one job, with each stage as a column and each application as a card. Moving a candidate changes the stage they are in and can run the emails, assessments, or interviews configured for the destination stage.
Each candidate on the board appears in the stage they currently occupy. You can drag an individual candidate from one stage to another, move several candidates together, or select a whole column and move everyone in it.
You can move a candidate forward to any stage before the offer stages. You can also move a candidate backwards, for example to correct an earlier move.
Moving a candidate changes their stage. Their stage and their application state are different: the stage records where they reached in the workflow, while the state records whether the application is live, withdrawn, rejected or hired.
For example, rejecting someone at Interview does not erase where they reached. Their application remains associated with Interview and its state becomes rejected. Rejected candidates leave the normal board view but can be shown again by filtering for them.
The board continues to work for paused and closed jobs, so candidates already in the hiring process can continue moving after the job stops accepting new applications.
What a move triggersA stage can be configured to run:
- Candidate emails
- A written assessment
- An AI interview
- An interview with a person
When you move candidates into a stage, ImpactHire shows you the automations configured for that destination before they run. You choose which ones to run.
For example, if the destination stage contains an email and an assessment, ImpactHire shows both. You can choose to run both, one, or neither.
The same choice applies to bulk moves. If you move several candidates together, you choose once which automations should run for the group.
Moving a candidate backwards also gives you this choice. This prevents a correction from automatically sending another email or creating another assessment unless you intend it to.
Candidates can also move forward automatically when a company has configured a score threshold. When a score moves a candidate into a new stage, that destination stage then runs its configured actions.
