# AI interviews
## Run structured first-stage interviews at scale without changing the standard from candidate to candidate. ImpactHire asks candidates the same underlying questions, assesses their words against defined rubrics, and keeps the transcript, recording, evidence, and scoring available for your team to review.
**Setting questions**
AI interview questions are set before candidates take the interview and are asked in order.
Candidates reaching the same interview stage receive the same underlying questions.
Each scored question has a rubric defining what the answer is measured against.
**The interviewer**
Candidates can choose the AI interviewer they speak with, including its avatar, face, and voice.
This choice does not affect the candidate's result.
The AI interviewer introduces itself and the company before the scored interview begins. The candidate also completes an unscored warm-up.
**Probes**
The AI interviewer can ask a follow-up question when an answer needs more evidence against a criterion.
It can probe once per criterion, using the rubric and what the candidate has already said to decide what to ask.
The follow-up is open-ended and does not reveal the scoring criteria to the candidate.
**Recordings and transcripts**
The interview produces a recording and live transcript.
Candidates can verbally correct transcription during the interview.
ImpactHire scores the **words** in the candidate's answers. The candidate's face, voice, accent, manner, pace, or presentation style does not contribute to the score.
Afterwards, your hiring team can review the recording, transcript, scoring evidence, and evaluation.
